NEXUS AG is one of Europe's leading providers of eHealth software solutions, building digital products that help doctors and medical staff focus on patient care by simplifying and accelerating processes in the hospital. The company supports healthcare customers across Germany and Europe, including helping them address the digitisation challenges that have intensified in recent years.

The role

This is an experienced, independent UX/UI design position within the NEXUS Germany team in Berlin. It is explicitly not an entry-level or junior role: after an onboarding period covering NEXUS products and processes, you would take on full professional responsibility in projects. You would work as part of a design team that values regular exchange and mutual support, collaborating closely with product managers, developers and other internal and external stakeholders.

What you would do

  • Work with product managers, developers and other stakeholders to improve the usability of NEXUS clinical software products.
  • Design user flows, wireframes and prototypes, taking work from initial sketches through to finished, implemented products.
  • Represent users within the company, get to know them through user research, and validate design drafts with them.
  • Support internal stakeholders in learning and applying design methods.
  • Contribute significantly to the development of a cross-company design system.
  • Present and justify design decisions to internal and external stakeholders in German (and English).
  • Find meaningful compromises between optimal design solutions and development effort, and prioritise tasks independently.

What they are looking for

  • A degree or vocational training in interface design, human-machine interaction or a comparable field.
  • Several years of professional experience in UX/UI design of digital software products, including independently designing complex applications and seeing them through to implementation.
  • In-depth experience applying UX design methodology (personas, journey maps, etc.), visual design and/or service design, ideally in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Confident, routine use of common prototyping tools such as Figma and Sketch, including in complex projects and when working with an existing design system.
  • A portfolio demonstrating your own area of responsibility, approach and design decisions across real projects.
  • Strong German communication skills for presenting to stakeholders; negotiable English.
  • A solid understanding of technical requirements and limitations, and the ability to factor these into collaboration with developers.
  • Ability to work without close professional guidance, identify open questions and risks early, and contribute expertise proactively.
  • Nice to have: experience with AI tools in a design context, AI-powered testing, or maintaining a design system using AI tools.

Working arrangements

The role is based in Berlin. Flexible working hours are available. Reduced weekly working hours (part-time) can also be arranged by agreement.
